Inspired by the original Custom 24 from 1985, which laid the foundation for Paul Reed Smith's electric guitars, this anniversary model presents itself as a sophisticated semi-hollow version with special woods and exclusive features. Even the first glance at the high-gloss nitro finish, the 10-top-grade maple top and the semi-hollow construction with elegant F-hole makes it clear that this is an instrument for the highest demands. Highlights such as the high-quality high-gloss nitrocellulose finish, chic chrome/gold hardware, in-house TCI humbuckers and two EQ mini-switches not only make the model a real visual gem, but also enable versatile sounds for a wide range of genres!

Semi-hollow body, premium tonewoods and unique features

The semi-hollow mahogany body with an attached curly maple top, together with the one-piece mahogany neck including a slim pattern thin profile, provides great handling. The high-quality Ziricote fingerboard with iconic "old school" fret inlays, 24 frets and 10" radius provides a comfortable playing feel across all registers, while low riffs or demanding leads in high registers run cleanly from the hand. The 40th Anniversary McCarty is complemented by proven PRS hardware such as the Gen III tremolo and Phase III locking tuners, which ensure tuning stability. Hybrid hardware in gold and chrome as well as the chic natural binding set visual accents that definitely emphasize the exclusive character of the model.

A special feature are the two EQ mini toggles, which work as high-pass filters and can cleanly trim the low frequency range to create more clarity and brilliance. This detail, first introduced on the Private Stock John McLaughlin model, significantly expands the variety of sounds through various pickup and EQ switch combinations.
