Yamaha Reface DX Synthesizer

The Yamaha Reface DX lets you rediscover legendary FM sounds in a playful way and creates a new world of FM sounds. A carefully developed operating concept offers even beginners intuitive access to FM sound generation. The four capacitive multi-touch sliders, which allow dynamic modification of the soundscapes, help here. The Reface DX is a robust mini synthesizer with reduced buttons and battery operation. It has internal speakers, a 2-way effects section and a clever loop sequencer. The synthesizer sounds of the legendary Yamaha DX7 have never been as easy to edit as with the Yamaha Reface DX.

Although the Yamaha DX7 released in the 80s had an FM sound generator with 6 operators, you can still recreate a lot of the original sounds of the 80s with the Yamaha Reface DX. The 4-operator FM sound generation can also be operated dynamically via the multi-touch sliders - while editing FM sounds was a big deal for many back then, the Yamaha Reface DX is super easy to operate - making FM-Synthese really fun, because the intuitive multi-touch interface offers direct access to four parameters at the same time - something the good old DX7 didn't have back then: feedback circuits per operator. In addition, a newly developed feedback process provides two shapes that can generate sounds with square and sawtooth coloration. This means that an individual sound character can be assigned to each individual operator. 32 memory locations make it possible to save and quickly select individual voices.

With the Reface Mobile Mini Keyboards, Yamaha presents four ultra-compact instruments based on legendary sound generators that fully exploit their strengths on the road, on stage and in the studio. Reface is perfect for all songwriters, sound designers, stage keyboardists - and for anyone who wants to have their source of musical inspiration with them at all times. With battery operation and an (even really good-sounding) integrated stereo speaker system, the reface quartet is always ready to play. The workmanship of the keyboard, housing and controls is much better than you would expect from a Mini Synthesizer.

Many FM sounds only reveal their sound potential with the right effects. Luckily, the Reface DX comes with two programmable effect heads, so you can use Chorus and Reverb to give your sounds a little extra depth and depth. The effects are: VCM Touch Wah, VCM Flanger, VCM Phaser, Chorus, Delay, Reverb and Distortion.
