The Jupiter JRS700 Saxonett/Chalumeau is a single-reed woodwind instrument of the late baroque and early classical eras of music history. A predecessor to the modern clarinet, it has the body of a recorder but with the mouthpiece of a clarinet, and gives a vibrant and warm tone. Its small size and light weight make it an excellent instrument for younger musicians, giving them a foundation in general woodwind instruments.
