Korg SQ-64 Sequencer

The Korg SQ-64 is a polyphonic desktop sequencer offering three tracks for instruments and one for drums. The feature-rich control panel includes all 64 steps that can be programmed per track, corresponding to four bars of 16 steps each. For each step, you can programme the Gate, pitch and mod value separately. If fewer than 64 steps are required in a track, you can shorten them using the ‘Loop’ function, thereby also achieving odd numbers of steps. For each track, you can set, amongst other things, the playback direction and Timing (1/32, 1/16, 1/8, 1/4, including Triplets) can be defined. In total, the unit stores 64 projects; each project contains per track (3x Synth, 1x Drums) 64 Pattern; furthermore, you can pattern-chain them together. The three synth tracks are polyphonic up to 8 voices when output via MIDI, but are generally monophonic via the analogue CV/Gate/Modoutputs, however, they are always monophonic. The drum track is programmable for up to 16 voices, eight of which are output via the trigger outputs. The Korg SQ-64, optimised for live performance, also features anarpeggiator that literally conjures up hypnotic sequences at the touch of a button.
