With the Marshall 1959HW, the British amplifier giant is reissuing the ‘definitive Plexi’ as an authentic version of the original. Manufactured in the style of the Super Lead as produced between 1967 and 1969, the hand-wired Marshall 1959HW delivers a whopping 100 watts of power from four EL34 power tubes, just as The Who’s Pete Townshend requested from Jim Marshall back in the day. In the preamp stage, however, two ECC83 pentodes are used, along with an additional ECC83 phase splitter to deliver that characteristic Marshall crunch. In addition, the Marshall 1959HW features a two-channel design with separate volume controls, whilst a shared 3-band equaliser and the global ‘Presence’ knob are available for tone control. The Marshall 1959 Reissue embodies the true British sound in its purest form and remains more than true to its motto, ‘Loud and Proud’.
