Custom Series wires feature medium-gauge wire with evenly spaced, standard coils. The Custom line offers four different strand configurations that can be employed to change the balance between the drum and snare components of the sound. Models with more strands tend to allow the snares to be more active in influencing the sound while those with less strands allow the drum to be more prominent in the overall drum sound.

I have had a great deal of experience with these wires, and they open up the sound and bring out the sensitivity in any snare drum I have tried with them. If a snare drum sounds good, it will sound even better with these wires. They come with the blue attachment cords for the throw-off mechanism, but I highly recommend using the plastic straps instead (they can be bought separately), because the wire end plates do not have the raised holes which are needed for cords, thus making them too high above and not in perfect contact with the drum head. Otherwise, after making this small tweak, they are superb!
