Those who play the piano as a hobby usually have two goals in mind: playing from sheet music with as wide a range as possible of classical, pop and jazz, and playing without sheet music – that is, the ability to accompany melodies with chords, play songs by ear and improvise freely. This volume addresses both topics consistently and systematically. Whilst most piano method books favour either classical or popular music, the two areas are given equal weight here.
