The Seymour Duncan SSL-7 Quarter Pound Staggered Strat doubles the power of standard Strat single-coil pickups and delivers a broad sound with extra mid-range punch. The key to its success lies in its enlarged Alnico 5 pole pieces, each with a diameter of a quarter of an inch, which, thanks to traditional staggering, follow the fretboard radius of classic ‘ Vintage ’ Strats. The SSL-7 Quarter Pound Staggered Strat in the RWRP version is reverse-wound and reverse-polarised, and is often played in combination with two further SSL-7 pickups in the centre position um, to ensure that the intermediate positions 2 and 4 are hum-free.
