The Z5000 from TipTop Audio is a module specialising in high-quality delay, reverb and modulation effects. This all-digital module features 24 different programmes, covering several variants of various reverbs such as Room, Plate, Shimmer and Gated, as well as different delays including Ping-Pong and various modulation effects such as Ensemble, Flanger, Multitap and Formant. The selection covers a range of effects from the 70s to the 90s, without deliberately seeking to emulate any specific unit. These can be accessed via key combinations across three banks, each containing eight programmes. A highlight of the Z5000 is the internal analogue oscillator, which drives the CPU. If its frequency is lowered, a range of lo-fi effects—including digital noise of the gritty variety—become possible.
This is one of the cheapest multi effects for modular setups, but it sounds awesome. This is a must have. The only bad thing to say about it, is that it only has a mono input. But lots of modular stuff are mono, and the output of the module is great wide stereo.
