The Universal Audio 4-710d ranks among the very best microphone preamps, both in terms of sound quality and features. UA has drawn on all its experience in classic analogue design and further enhanced the 4-710d with modern features and workflow improvements.

The Sound

The four-channel Universal Audio 4-710d Tone-Blending microphone preamp combines the warm, vintage sound of a valve preamp with the clear brilliance of transistor preamps. Thanks to a unique blending circuit for the tube and transistor preamps, the 4-710d becomes the workhorse of any studio setup.

Flexibility

As well as a wide range of digital I/Os to expand your setup, the 4-710d boasts classic 1176-style compression – on every microphone channel! As with the 1176, compression is applied via the Gain control and the output level is adjusted using the Output control. The VU-meter, with its three operating modes – Gain Reduction, Output and Drive – helps with this. Whether it’ ob, a microphone, a line source or a guitar: the 4-710d offers four inputs for each type of signal level.

Workflow

The 4-710d is designed to be extremely ergonomic and optimised for an ultra-fast workflow. For example, z.B. on each channel can be easily switched to true-bypass at the flick of a switch. The compressor’s attack and release times can be switched directly from ‘slow’ to ‘fast’ and vice versa. Nothing can go wrong!
