The Arturia Drumbrute Impact is a drum machine featuring 10 fully analogue drum sounds and an intuitive, versatile sequencer. This drum machine does away with fiddly sub-menus, so that each parameter can be controlled via its own knob. Four individual outputs and a wide range of connectivity options make the Arturia Drumbrute Impact a real powerhouse on stage and in the studio.
The Drumbrute Impact delivers 10 fully analogue drum sounds with independent sequencer tracks. With knobs and buttons, each sound can be adjusted very intuitively and directly. Each drum sound features a unique parameter that alters the timbre, pitch, envelope or synthesis characteristics.
Another new feature is the drum-optimised distortion, which adds grit and texture to the drum sounds without reducing power or transients. This effect, which operates on the master bus, can be used at low settings to add a touch of compression and warmth to the mix, or at higher settings to heavily distort the mix. Both sound excellent with this drum-optimised effect.
The Colour parameter can be activated individually for every instrument except the cowbell, adding further tonal variation where required. This could be ‘Drive’ for the kick, ‘Harmonics’ for the open hi-hat or ‘Pitch Envelope’ for the FM drum sound. These parameters can be activated for individual steps in the sequencer and are ideal for adding more movement to the sound.
The Drumbrute Impact features eight touch-sensitive pads that allow you to play the individual instruments dynamically. You can use them to play your own patterns without the sequencer, improvise over patterns in the sequencer, or record directly into the sequencer. Recorded rhythms can be played back both quantised and unquantised. This makes it possible to create complex and lively patterns very quickly.

The sequencer, taken from the Arturia Drumbrute , offers a range of interesting sequencing options that can be used individually for each instrument. Swing can be applied to the selected instrument or to all sounds. Randomness adds random hits to the drum track, whilst Step Repeat and Roller allow the steps to be divided into smaller increments and sounds to be repeated at specified intervals for drum rolls and fills.
The Midi Control Centre, available free of charge for Mac and PC, allows you to adjust a range of settings on the Drumbrute Impact. Patterns can be saved and loaded, and the behaviour of the metronome and sequencer can be customised to suit your individual needs.
Thanks to its wide range of connection options, the Arturia Drumbrute Impact integrates seamlessly with other synthesisers, drum machines, effects units or DAWs. The Arturia drum machine features a 3.5 mm headphone output, individual outputs for each instrument group, and clock in and out for synchronisation via CV, as well as MIDI in and out. Via a USB connection, the Drumbrute can be synchronised with a DAW via MIDI, or settings can be adjusted using the MIDI Control Centre.

Arturia Drumbrute ImpactUpon receiving the unit, having only watched a small handful of videos about the product, it was incredibly easy to get started making music with it.
The sequencer is incredibly easy to use both live and pre-programmed and the various drum synths offer a really nice sound, which gets even better when paired with the built in distortion. Overall it is a huge amount of fun and I cant wait to pair it with other equipment!
