The Duesenberg Fairytale Lapsteel Split/King Edition Black & Ivory combines the traditional Western Swing lap steel design with a number of useful hardware innovations from Duesenberg. Thanks to its modern features, the Fairytale is capable of producing an enormous sonic palette, allowing it to find its place effortlessly across a wide range of musical genres.
The basic construction of the Fairytale Lapsteel consists of a solid Korina body, finished with a stylish maple top on the headstock. In addition, the instrument features an aluminium fingerboard with 24 frets and elegant split diamond inlays, whilst the Duesenberg roller nut ensures easy tuning and absolute tuning stability.
The enormous tonal range of the Duesenberg Fairytale Lapsteel Split/King Edition Black & Ivory is down to two innovative Duesenberg Split/King Duo-Coils. These two dual-coil pickups, with their unique design, produce authentic single-coil tones and rich humbucker sounds, and feature a 3-way toggle switch for pickup selection and additional split switches.
To remove all limits on musical creativity, Duesenberg has fitted the Fairytale Lapsteel Split/King Edition Black & Ivory with a sophisticated Multibender system. The bridge, with its freely configurable levers, applies the classic pedal steel bending effect to each string individually, making the Fairytale the ultimate secret weapon for every conceivable Western Swing sound. Quick tuning changes are also no problem for the Fairytale Lapsteel thanks to the easy-to-use Easy Shift Capo.

After extensive research, I selected this model due to Duesenberg's excellent reputation, the built-in capo, the pickups and the string benders.
I had high hopes and expectations, and they were EXCEEDED by this guitar. Easy to play, fantastic tone from the pickups, and fun learning to use the benders. I have a Dobro capo that would fit this guitar but I won't have to keep track of an extra capo since this guitar has one built right onto it. That capo is easy to use and works very well.
I am thrilled with this purchase, and glad that I took a chance without ever playing this model before purchasing. HIGHLY recommended!
