As part of the Historic Reissue Line, this model is an authentic replica of the legendary 1959 ES-335, made famous for its rich tone, elegant aesthetics, and unmatched versatility. Using detailed 3D scans of pristine vintage originals, Gibson has recreated the classic shape, feel, and sonic magic that made the ES-335 a favorite among blues, rock, and jazz players. This semi-hollow masterpiece features Custombucker pickups modeled after the original PAF humbuckers and a traditional hand-wired circuit with paper-in-oil capacitors, ensuring the warm, dynamic tone that defines the golden era of electric guitars. Finished in a tasteful Vintage Original Spec (VOS) Vintage Natural, this model also boasts period-correct hardware, including an ABR-1 bridge and Kluson tuners, for true vintage authenticity in both look and performance.
The construction of the 1959 Reissue E-335 is naturally historically correct using the tonewoods of the Fifties, with detailed scans of the Vintage originals guaranteeing accurate reproduction of all shapings, from the "mouse ears" of the body to the neck profile. and to avoid feedback without compromising the guitar's airy-resonant sound, the body made of the typical maple-poplar laminate is stabilized by a center block of maple. The mahogany neck, glued with Hide Glue and Long Tenon, promises optimal playing characteristics with the pleasantly strong "'50s Rounded Medium C" profile up to the 22nd fret of the rosewood fingerboard, where naturally the historically authenticated Dot Inlays mark the positions.
To ensure the '59 Reissue ES-335 meets every vintage tone expectation, it comes equipped with Gibson Custombucker pickups in both neck and bridge positions. Featuring Alnico III magnets and unpotted coils, these humbuckers faithfully recreate the airy tone of the legendary PAF pickups, enhanced by the naturally resonant semi-hollow body. Ideal for classic blues, rock, and jazz styles, the hand-wired electronics with historically accurate paper-in-oil capacitors ensure refined tonal control and smooth treble roll-off.
Of course, the 1959 ES-335 Reissue Vintage Natural from Gibson features the classic hardware setup of the late Fifties. On the body, Ted McCarty’s iconic combination of a lightweight aluminum stopbar and ABR-1 Tune-O-Matic bridge allows precise adjustment of intonation and string height. Behind the nylon nut, Kluson tuners in the historically correct single-line/single-ring design ensure stable and accurate tuning.
