Solid-wood master guitar with a cedar top, a body made from Madagascan rosewood and a case included
With the Alhambra Premier Pro Madagascar, the Spanish manufacturer from Alicante presents one of its masterclass models crafted by Javier Mengual, which, in addition to its balanced sound, features selected woods and high-quality hardware. A top made from the finest cedar produces a warm tone that unfolds quickly and fully thanks to a sophisticated ‘Chinese-House ’ bracing system and an ultra-thin nitrocellulose lacquer finish. To enhance the sound with a rich, full-bodied resonance, the manufacturer uses fine, coarsely grained Madagascar rosewood for the back and sides. A sturdy cedar neck, reinforced with ebony, also guarantees exceptionally smooth access to all 19 frets, which are precisely intonated thanks to a finely notched nut and a bone bridge insert. The package includes an additional bridge insert and a polyurethane fibre case with a hygrometer.
The Alhambra Premier Pro Madagascar perfectly embodies the spirit and tradition of Spanish guitar-making
The cedar top adds warmth to the sound
A solid cedar top of ‘AAA’ grade
Easily recognisable by its even yet coarse grain, cedar wood has a lower density than, for example, spruce, which is often used in guitar making. It is therefore frequently used in the construction of the finest concert guitars to lend the instruments a warm and distinctive tone. The construction of the Premier Pro Madagascar also features ‘Chinese-House ’ bracing, which ensures that every note is brought out effortlessly, even with the lightest of touches. Adorned with an elaborate soundhole rosette and framed by a multi-layered ‘ Binding ’, the ‘AAA’ grade top wood, sealed with a nitrocellulose lacquer, is showcased in a highly aesthetic manner, thereby highlighting the luthier’s craftsmanship.
Precious wood from Madagascar for the back and sides
Madagascar rosewood for expressive bass frequencies
Perfectly matched to the top wood used, the back and sides are crafted from high-quality Madagascar rosewood, giving the overall sound greater substance and power. This reddish-brown precious wood is showcased particularly tastefully on the back, as it is divided into three sections and features a lighter-coloured inlay that blends harmoniously into the Binding and the neck construction. The two-layer ‘ Binding ’ also provides a pleasing contrast to the individual components of the body, clearly distinguishing them from one another. The thin Finish offers a deep insight into the wood’s varied grain, thereby highlighting the uniqueness of each model.
Golden Schaller tuners for effortless tuning
A comfortable cedar neck with ebony reinforcement
In classical music in particular, a neck that is easy to play is the ultimate for the musician. That is why the neck of the Premier Pro model is made of cedar, which is additionally reinforced with an ebony insert. A generous fingerboard, also crafted from this fine black wood, provides the ideal conditions for effortlessly mastering even complex fingerings and note sequences. A bridge insert and a 52 mm wide bone nut, painstakingly hand-crafted to match each other perfectly, ensure precise intonation across the entire 650 mm scale length. The headstock, adorned with a rosewood overlay, is fitted with gold SchallerGrand-Tune-Classic-Hauser tuners, which, thanks to their fine gear ratio, guarantee optimal tuning of the six nylon strings.
