Arturia Performance – KeyStep Pro
Arturia KeyStep Pro Chroma at a glance:
The Arturia KeyStep Pro Chroma is a successful combination of Arturia’s iconic KeyStep and BeatStep Pro controllers. A 37-key velocity-sensitive keyboard, which also features aftertouch, is the primary means of playing melodies, basslines and drum triggers. The TR grid can also be used here to place your beats precisely. Four trackscan be played simultaneously, sending their notes and commands to a total of two MIDI ports, eight drum triggers and four CV/Gate/Velocity outputs. The control voltage outputs of the Arturia KeyStep Pro can be linked together, making it possible to play a rich modular system in four-part polyphony. Of course, polyphony is also output via MIDI. The analogue clock/reset inputs and outputs can be used, for example, to synchronise a pre-MIDI-era drum machine, a Teenage Pocket Operator or the sequencer of a modular system. The KeyStep Pro’s built-in metronome is output as an audio signal and can be conveniently monitored via the mixer or a pair of headphones. An arpeggiator and a randomisation function provide a useful complement to this controller, which is optimised for live performance and direct access.
Special edition in an elegant sci-fi design
CHROMA is the name of the futuristic-looking special edition of the popular KeyStep Pro sequencer. The dark science fiction design is emphasised by the inverted buttons, and the track colours can also be customised to suit personal taste. The light blue LEDs and blue-and-white displays offer enhanced interaction with the KeyStep Pro, not only in low-light conditions.
